Our protagonist, Jon, lives in a place of monotony and routine, the aptly named Gray World, which exists not just metaphorically without color in their lives but literally without color. The Gray World is painted in black, white, and shades of gray. No one ever does anything out of the ordinary, and that is exactly how they like it. Despite knowing this, Jon has an untamable curiosity that leads him to ask lots of questions about the world around him and what might be beyond the world they know. This gets him in trouble at school, with his peers, and even his parents. The worst thing in this world is to be different, and that is all that Jon knows how to be. The only person who indulges in his imagination and inquisitiveness is his best friend, Fortuna, which makes her a saving grace in Jon’s world. One day, Fortuna goes missing, and what is worse, no one knows where she is, and no one is talking about what happened to her. Jon sets off to find clues as to where she might be and goes looking for her in the woods that they both love to explore.
When Jon discovers Blue, a living, talking ball of color, something out of his dreams, he sets off on an adventure that will change his world forever and take him to the mysterious and thrilling Color World, which follows its own set of rules…
Achromatic Chronicles: Blue features 220 pages of adventure, illustrated by Erik Hodson.
