A Story That Gives Back

Tales from Twisted Ravens: Anne did not begin as a product. It began during recovery after cancer surgery, when creator Carrow Brown reached out to ComicBooks for Kids, expecting a short conversation about a possible collaboration. Instead, that conversation became something much bigger and changed the direction of the entire project.

One question stayed after that first call: what if stories could do more than entertain? What if they could comfort children sitting in hospital rooms, give them something to hold onto, and remind them that imagination still belongs to them? What if a comic book could become part of someone’s healing?

That question became Tales from Twisted Ravens. This project is not simply about publishing a book. It is about creating stories that matter and making sure they reach the readers who need them most.

What This Book Is

Tales from Twisted Ravens is a dark, imaginative comic series centered around children who discover a mysterious wishing shop where every wish comes with a cost. Inside, nothing is simple. Magic offers possibilities, but every choice carries consequences, and the answers are rarely easy.

These stories trust young readers enough to be honest with them. They explore fear, grief, difficult choices, and the kind of courage that only appears when life becomes complicated. They remind readers that bravery does not mean never being afraid, and that hope can still exist even when things feel broken.

This is not a story that pretends life is easy or that every ending is clean. It is a story that understands pain, but still believes wonder has value. By blending fantasy, danger, humor, and emotional truth, Tales from Twisted Ravens creates a world where young readers can see themselves not as powerless, but as capable of facing hard things.

Why This Matters

Through our partnership with ComicBooks for Kids, every copy of this project helps place comics directly into hospitals and cancer centers across the United States, with additional outreach into Canada where possible. These books are delivered under strict hospital safety and infectious disease protocols to ensure they safely reach children receiving treatment.

For a child sitting in a hospital bed, a comic book is never just a comic book. It can be a moment of escape from fear, a sense of normalcy in an unfamiliar place, and a reminder that they are not alone. It can be proof that joy still exists in difficult seasons and that stories can still create space for hope.

Sometimes healing starts with medicine, and sometimes it starts with someone handing you a story that lets you breathe for a little while. That kind of comfort matters more than most people realize.

What Your Support Makes Possible

When you back this campaign, you are doing more than funding a comic. You are helping us print and produce Tales from Twisted Ravens, expand the reach of child-friendly comics into hospitals and treatment centers, and support ComicBooks for Kids in their mission to bring comfort, joy, and imagination to children during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

You are helping turn pain into purpose and proving that stories still matter. This project exists because we believe creativity should do more than sell a product. It should serve people. It should create connection. It should leave something better behind.

Every pledge helps us move closer to that goal and helps ensure that this book becomes more than entertainment. It becomes part of something meaningful.

Support Today

Independent storytelling only works when readers decide it matters. If you believe original stories deserve a place in the world, if you believe children in hospitals deserve moments of joy, and if you believe stories can be part of healing, then we would love to have you with us.

Our goal with Tales from Twisted Ravens: Anne is bigger than publishing a comic. We are working to help raise $50,000 for ComicBooks for Kids, either through collection sales or through direct donations, so they can continue expanding their mission of delivering comics to children in hospitals, clinics, and cancer centers.

For a long time, the owner of ComicBooks for Kids has carried that mission largely alone, doing the hard work of building relationships, organizing shipments, and making sure books reach the children who need them most—right up to packing and shipping the boxes himself. But growth requires help, and help is not free. Reaching this $50,000 goal would allow him to hire the support he needs, strengthen operations, and expand into even more hospitals and care centers across the country.

This is how small acts create larger change. A comic book becomes a connection. A single purchase becomes a donation. A story becomes something that reaches far beyond the page.

Help us bring light to children in dark places. Help us turn imagination into impact. Help us prove that stories can still change lives while helping ComicBooks for Kids grow strong enough to reach even more families.

Back Tales from Twisted Ravens: Anne today or donate directly to help us reach that goal together.

About the Creator

Carrow Brown is a writer, editor, and publishing strategist whose work lives at the intersection of storytelling, structure, and execution. With a background spanning comics, prose, marketing, and project management, Brown approaches every project with the same core philosophy: stories should move people, and the work behind them should be built to last. Known for sharp editorial instincts, strong narrative architecture, and a deep understanding of both creator-facing and reader-facing publishing, Brown has worked across independent comics, creator-owned projects, and publishing operations where deadlines, clarity, and vision matter just as much as the words on the page. Whether shaping a script, building a launch campaign, or helping a book find its audience, the focus remains the same—make the story stronger and make sure it reaches the people it was meant for.

Works

Brown’s work is rooted in story mechanics and emotional payoff, blending commercial awareness with a genuine respect for craft. From comic scripts and novels to launch copy, retailer materials, and long-form editorial development, the goal is never just to create content—it is to create something that lands. Their published and developing works include titles such as Dirty Deeds, Queen of Swords & Silence, Smuggler’s Stitch, and Yaira: Frost & Ruin, each built around strong character dynamics, moral conflict, and worlds that feel lived in—whether through science fiction, supernatural noir, dark fantasy, or grounded human drama. Brown can also be found writing articles for That Park Place and on Substack, where they dive into conversations about storytelling, publishing, culture, and the craft behind the work.
