Russ Morgan (Xwing) is an independent creator, craftsman, and writer with a deep-rooted passion for history and the stories that shape cultural memory. Drawing from historical study and a lifelong engagement with narrative—and just as often from the forge—Russ approaches pop culture, fandom, and genre storytelling through a contextual lens, examining where stories come from, what they echo from the past, and why they endure. Rather than chasing trends, Russ focuses on substance: history, material culture, and the long arc of storytelling across time. His perspective bridges the intellectual and the tangible, treating stories not just as entertainment, but as artifacts—things made, carried forward, and shaped by the people who handle them.
Works
While writing remains central to his creative identity, Russ’ work is equally defined by making things with his hands. A blacksmith and builder at heart, he believes craft and story are inseparable—that ideas gain weight when they are forged, assembled, or tested through labor. Whether spinning a wrench, shaping steel, or putting words to the page, his work reflects respect for process, durability, and legacy. Russ’ work spans written and digital commentary alongside physical craftsmanship. His creative output explores how modern stories draw from older traditions—myth, history, and recurring cultural cycles—while his hands-on work grounds those ideas in steel and function. Notably, the swords he forged for the book stand as extensions of that philosophy: narrative made physical, history rendered in form and weight.
